Clive Brown and I, Malena Lopez-Maggi, are an oddly paired duo of artisans-turned-chocolatiers. One day, I had had enough of metalsmithing and Clive, my rock and roll bandmate, had had enough of glass fusing.
On a beach in Thailand, we dreamed up the brilliant idea of opening a chocolate cafe. First things first, I studied under chocolatier Terry Richardson and Clive did his own research. To the kitchen Clive brought the palate of a seasoned world traveler, and I brought my love for food art and Chilean-Mexican home cooking.
After much trial and error, inspiration and experimentation, we were in business. The rest, my friends, is history in the making.
